*HOW* *TO* *PRESERVE* *CACTUS* π΅
If cactus has thorns, it can last for as long as possible. When it looks like its dwindling just splash some water on it and it will come back to life.
If the thorns have been removed from cactus, follow these steps to preserve it:
π΅ Remove it from the polythene and put it in a large container and cover it.
π΅ Keep it in the fridge.(not freezer)
If your fridge is on and off, it will cause it to sweat, so evertime you switch it off endeavour to remove the cactus, dry it the put it back once it's switched on. Otherwise if you your fridge is on 24/7 it will be fresh as you first put it in.
The key to preserving cactus is to keep it as dry as possible, and to keep it in a cool dry place. Even after two weeks, it should look as fresh as it looked on day 1.
If you don't have a fridge, keep it on the floor. As the days go by, it will look like its drying up but worry not-it still has juice inside.
NB* Only wash what you are going to use. This is very important as water makes cactus rot.
On how to consume it, wash thrice. First and second time with cold tap water, then the third time with warm boiled water and vinegar. Vinegar helps to disinfect since you are going to juice your cactus raw. When washing, wash one at a time, and don't soak it.
After cut in small pieces and mix together together with the other fruits and vegetables of your choice and blend.
